The Douglas County Wildlife Area, often called the "Bird Sanctuary" and located near Solon Springs/Gordon (south of Foxboro), is a 4,000+ acre pine barrens habitat managed for sharp-tailed grouse and other wildlife. It offers extensive hiking, birdwatching, horseback riding trails, and is famous for its horseback riding amenities and fall field trials.
